Living Life Well by Tikita Peaglerಮಾದರಿ
Day 2: CONSIDER HEAVEN’S PERSPECTIVE
Therapist and author Stephen James works extensively with growing boys and their parents. He often hears the question, "Is this normal?" This question typically reflects a deeper concern: "Is my son normal?" Most of the time, his answer is yes, and he believes that education can help ease parents' worries. For example, boys aged 13 to 17 experience significant physiological changes due to surges of testosterone and other hormones. These changes can lead to issues such as acne, mood swings, and alterations in voice and attitude.
A mother shared that reading the book by Stephen James and David Thomas on nurturing boys significantly eased her concerns as a mother of boys. The valuable information offered her much-needed perspective. This principle can be applied to our journey with God as we seek to navigate this life well. Life can often be uncertain and downright scary, but prayer and reading the Bible—gaining good information—can dispel fear and provide us with a higher perspective, offering comfort and reassurance.
Remember when the Prophet Elisha and his servant woke up to find their home surrounded by the Syrian Army seeking to capture Elisha? When the servant saw the army, he responded in fear and asked, “What shall we do?” Elisha replied not to be afraid because there was more with them than the army. Elisha then prayed, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” (2 Kings 6:17-20 NIV) The servant’s eyes were opened, and what did he see? A mountain full of horses and chariots of fire surrounding Elisha, who subsequently blinded the Syrian Army. You see, Elisha had what Stephen James describes as “good information and education” --- he had a heavenly perspective that was clearer than the human eye. I encourage you to seek the Lord in prayer and find Him in His Word the next time you find yourself with a gnawing concern or fear. By doing so, your worries and fears will be dispelled.
Then Elisha prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes and let him see!” The Lord opened the young man’s eyes... 2 Kings 6:17
Let's Pray:
Heavenly Father,
In Isaiah 55, we are reminded that Your ways and thoughts are beyond us. You see everything from a higher perspective. Thank You for generously sharing Your wisdom and providing guidance. When I feel worried and afraid, help me to seek You through prayer and the Holy Bible. Thank You for the promise of the Holy Spirit, who will lead me into all truth. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
