Prayer 101

DAY 8 OF 8

A healthy prayer life is full of forgiveness.

Matthew 6:12 says, “And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.” Matthew 6:12, 14, & 15 are all about forgiveness in prayer. Jesus says that forgiving should be part of our daily prayer rhythm. Mark 11:25 says, “And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses." Unforgiveness is one of the areas that destroys countless lives. Ephesians 4:26-27 says it gives the devil a foothold, and Hebrews 12:15 says that bitterness grows and defiles many. God’s plan for us is full of forgiveness. God wants to forgive us and for us to forgive others. As we pray today, let us follow the instructions in Mark 11:25 and forgive. As we forgive, we are freed from one of Satan’s great traps. Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8). He wants to set us free from all of Satan’s traps. This includes sickness. John 10:10 tells us who brings things that steal, kill, and destroy. In Acts 10:38, we see that Jesus (the exact representation of the Father, Hebrews 1:3) went about doing good, healing all. That is still His desire, and it was His command and expectation of those who followed him that they should pray for the sick. (Matthew 10:1, 7-8; Luke 10:9; Mark 16:15-18; John 14:12) So today, let us forgive those who have offended us, pray for those who are sick, and let us see His kingdom come, and His will be done.

In Conclusion: As this plan ends, I would like to encourage you to keep the habit of prayer going. Let’s become people of prayer. We have another 21-day prayer plan, called Pray First: Seek - Pray - Unite, that you can use as you grow in the habit of prayer. Set your alarm as a prayer appointment with God, and watch what God does in your heart and life this year.
