Acts 4:32-37 | a Life Surrendered

DAY 5 OF 5

We’ve been talking about surrender. What connotation does the word conjure up?

For some, surrender invokes images of weakness and white flags, giving up, lack of resolve, or maybe even cowardice. Sometimes that’s the case when a Christian surrenders to things despite God telling us, “Never surrender!”

Other times, surrender is about swallowing pride, coming to realize where we are wrong and God is right, stopping a futile fight against one who loves us, or refusing to retaliate by turning a cheek. That kind of surrender takes deep resolve and strength. The bravest thing someone can do is surrender to Christ. But sometimes Christians are guilty of not surrendering to him despite Jesus’s call for total surrender.

Never surrender. Total surrender. It’s the paradox of the Christian life. How do you seek to live it?
