The Holy Spirit Explained - Part II

DAY 2 OF 5

Grafted into God’s Plan

As we reflect on the transformation brought by the Holy Spirit, it’s important to remember where we started. Once, we were far off—alienated, strangers to the promises of God, without hope, and without Him in the world. The Jews had the unique privilege of receiving God’s revelation, being entrusted with His Word, and having access to His presence. But through Christ, this privilege has been extended to us, the Gentiles, grafting us into the rich heritage of God’s people.

Paul speaks about this in Romans, emphasizing that being a Jew isn’t about outward appearances or physical circumcision, but about a transformation of the heart by the Spirit. This truth was always present, even in the Old Testament, where true worship was never merely about external rituals but about an inward reality.

The Jews had great advantages—God’s Word, His promises, and His presence. Now, because of Jesus, these blessings are available to all who believe, regardless of their background. We are all now part of this spiritual family, built together into a holy temple where God’s Spirit dwells.

Worship is no longer tied to a specific location like Jerusalem or a physical temple. It’s wherever God’s Spirit resides, which is in the hearts of believers. As we gather together as a church, we become the living temple of God, offering Him worship that is pleasing in His sight. But this worship also extends into our private moments of devotion, prayer, and study.

In Romans 11, Paul cautions us not to become arrogant in our inclusion. By grace alone, we have been grafted into the rich heritage of God’s people. In His wisdom, God has allowed this grafting in, but He also has the power to bring Israel back into His fold. Our position is one of humble gratitude, recognizing that salvation is not earned but given.

This truth calls us to reflect on our role in God’s plan. We are part of something far greater than ourselves, a story that spans history and includes both Jews and Gentiles. As we live out our faith, let us do so with the awareness that we are now living temples of God, carrying His presence into the world around us.

Today, as you consider your place in God’s family, let this truth inspire a spirit of humility and unity. We have been graciously grafted into a rich history, sharing in the blessings once reserved for the people of Israel. This inclusion is not something to boast about, but a reminder of God’s expansive mercy. Let this awareness encourage us to live in harmony with all believers. We are all recipients of the same grace. Seek opportunities to demonstrate this unity in your community, reaching out with the same love and acceptance that God has shown to you.
