Reading With the People of God - #6 LOVEಮಾದರಿ
Memorization Challenge: 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain not
Reading Primer: Living "Under" God
In today’s readings, the central theme is living under God’s authority with humility and responsibility. In Psalm 8, David marvels at God’s majesty and wonders why He cares for humanity, reminding us of our responsibility as caretakers of His creation. This awe should lead us to honor God in all we do humbly.
Deuteronomy 17:1-13 calls for justice and integrity, emphasizing the need to follow God's laws and uphold righteousness in the community.
In 1 Corinthians 9, Paul speaks about his rights as an apostle but chooses to surrender them for the sake of the gospel, highlighting the importance of living selflessly for God’s kingdom.
These passages call us to humbly submit to God’s authority, live justly, and serve others, not for our gain, but for His glory. Let us reflect on how we can use our lives and influence for His purposes.
About this Plan
This is the sixth part of a reading plan through the Bible, following the lectionary pattern of reading in the Psalms, Old Testament, and New Testament each day. In addition, each day this month will feature a memorization challenge for 1 Corinthians 13 (The Love Chapter), and there will be brief devotionals from different people in our Church scattered throughout the plan.
