I Feel I Am Not Acceptable to God and People

DAY 5 OF 7

Sometimes people inside and outside the walls will reject you

When Jesus went to the outcasts, the "church" didn't understand him. They scolded him for being a glutton and a wine sucker. Matthew 11:19 - The Son of Man came and ate and drank, and they said, "Look there, a glutton and a wine sucker, a friend of tax collectors and sinners."

Jesus went regardless of what the people inside the wall said and how the people on the outside of the wall lived. He went despite what they did. He went at the expense of Himself. He went because of what they did and are still doing. His love for them and the will of his Father drove him. The people outside the wall often don't understand why he comes to them.

The crowd on Calvary's hill mocked, laughed, despised, and ultimately rejected Him. One of the robbers on the cross did likewise. He announced himself as the Messiah promised to the people of Israel, but they wanted another type of Messiah. They were uninterested in this one, and he was unacceptable. It will always be this way. There will always be people in the church who don't understand why we have to go to the people outside the city wall, and there will always be people outside the city wall who won't understand our good intentions. There will be those who understand and believe, which is enough. The centurion understood, as did the other robber on the cross.

Know that the people who live outside the city walls may reject you if you go out to tell the people on the "outside" about the cross and the blood of the Lamb. They often don't have any reason to trust anything or anyone from within the city walls.

Many will not believe in God and accept his salvation. Our responsibility is to go and tell the people outside the city wall the Good News. They are the ones who need to hear who Jesus is. Many live in utter wickedness and uncleanness (2 Timothy 3:1-5). Don't be polluted by them, Paul warns. Some of them will see Jesus, repent, and come to live inside the city wall. In Matthew 21:32, Jesus makes the following observation: John came to show you the right path, and you did not believe him, but tax collectors and prostitutes believed him. 1 Peter 2:17 says, "Respect all people." The ones outside the wall also.

Our eternal hope is found in the following two verses: He made us to be accepted in the Beloved. In Him, we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace (Ephesians 1:6–7).

About this Plan

I Feel I Am Not Acceptable to God and People

So, I often feel like the odd one out. Some of my friends and family do not really accept me—they probably just tolerate me. Sometimes, when I look at my life, I do not accept myself. I do not want to continue to live like this!
