God's Attributes Reflected in Us

DAY 17 OF 19

God is infinitely wise

“To the only wise God be glory forevermore through Jesus Christ! Amen.” (Romans 16:27)

If you look intently at creation, it gives you numerous clues to an intelligent Designer. When we study the universe, we become impressed with its grandeur. When we see under the microscope how human cells function and learn more and more about the complexity of genetics or about the diversity among animals and plants, the wisdom of the Creator shines in all this. Proverbs 3:19-20 marvels:

“The Lord by wisdom founded the earth;
by understanding He established the heavens;
by His knowledge the deeps broke open,
and the clouds drop down the dew.”

God's wisdom is also evident in His dealings with people. For example, Paul writes in Romans 11 about a “mystery,” a plan of the Lord God that people could not grasp for generations. Only when He revealed it Himself did it become clearer. Paul is talking here about the design and execution of God's plan of salvation, through which both Jews and Gentiles can be saved. No one could have imagined that God the Son Himself would become man to bring home people who had fallen away from God. To some, that seems foolish. But it is precisely here that we see God's wisdom at work, and we may marvel at it.

Where do you see God's wisdom shining most brightly?

About this Plan

God's Attributes Reflected in Us

God created humans “in His image.” This means that in a sense we resemble our Creator. But to what extent is this still true? And to what extent has sin broken this image of God? This reading plan examines various attributes of God and how they are reflected in us.
