From Fear to Reverence - a Journey of Wisdom and Intimacy With Godಮಾದರಿ
The Principle of Wisdom
The fear of the Lord is the foundation of a life filled with wisdom and spiritual discernment. Unlike fear, which paralyzes and distances us, the fear of the Lord is an attitude of reverence, respect, and deep love. This fear is not a feeling of terror before God, but rather a recognition of His majesty, holiness, and power. It is understanding that He is the Creator, and we are His creatures, dependent on His grace and mercy.
Psalm 25:14 reinforces this truth by saying that the Lord confides His secrets to those who fear Him and makes His covenant known to them. Here, we see that the fear of the Lord opens the door to deep intimacy with God. Those who fear the Lord not only obey His instructions but also become confidants of His promises and purposes. God reveals Himself to them, offering a deeper understanding of His will and the mysteries of His Kingdom.
Therefore, the fear of the Lord is more than just a feeling; it is a posture of the heart that drives us to seek God with sincerity and humility. Fear makes us hide from God, as Adam did in the Garden of Eden after sinning (Genesis 3:10). In contrast, fear draws us closer to Him, like Moses, who ascended the mountain to be in the presence of God, even amid thunder and lightning (Exodus 20:18-21).
Today, we are invited to cultivate this reverent fear in our lives. May we seek the wisdom that comes from God, allowing our fear of Him to lead us to a life of integrity, discernment, and knowledge of His truth. As we fear the Lord, we begin to understand His character and His ways, and it is on this journey that we find true wisdom.
