The Happy Days and the Ones That Aren'tಮಾದರಿ
If we believe Jesus experienced all the same feelings we feel, that means that Jesus most definitely got angry. It’s hard to think about, but He did! He walked into God’s temple, saw people defiling it, and got so mad that He started flipping tables! That’s real anger, huh? While the message here isn’t that we need to start flipping tables like a reality star, it is to say that we don’t need to be afraid of our anger.
Being a Christian isn’t being someone who's always happy, always getting it right, always at peace. Like Jesus, we’re human, too, which means we will feel the full range of emotions, anger included. Rather than shy away from emotions like anger that might scare or concern us, our job is to find healthy ways to feel them. And that can start with sharing them with Jesus, the God who felt it, too!
Today, think about what stirs up anger in you most often. The next time you face that situation, person, or experience, pause and pray that Jesus will help you navigate the anger you might find yourself feeling in a healthier, better way.
