Miracles to Shake the World
The believers were united. They prayed, and the place where they were assembled was shaken. They were filled with the Holy Spirit, who gave them the power to speak confidently and with grace.
These were preachers with power; they were witnesses with evidence. As a result, multitudes in the thousands, both men and women, believed in the Lord (Acts 2:41, 4:4, 5:12–14). The believers in the early church spoke about what they had seen and heard. They had seen Jesus heal the sick, cast out devils, give sight to the blind, raise up paralytics, and bless the poor. They had heard Him say that they would do the things He did (John 14:12). They received His command to preach the gospel, heal the sick, and cast out devils. (Mark 16:15–18). They had seen His example and had heard His orders to emulate Him (John 20:21).
As gospel messengers today, we can give that same witness to the people of this twenty-first century. Jesus sent us to take this gospel to all nations. Only men and women full of faith and the power of the Holy Ghost can do this. Nothing can substitute for this gospel with evidence. There is no alternative for the demonstration of the Holy Spirit and of power. One manifestation of God’s miraculous power is worth a thousand lectures. One miracle is worth a thousand sermons.
A spiritual awakening swept Jerusalem when Peter and John lifted the notable cripple to his feet, and he was miraculously healed (Acts 3:1–10). A similar spiritual awakening swept Puerto Rico during the first mass miracle evangelistic meeting that we conducted there in 1950. Juan Santos was a notable cripple who had been shot through the spine. For sixteen years he had walked with his hands, swinging his paralyzed body between his arms. During the meetings, Jesus lifted him to his feet perfectly restored. Thousands of people believed the gospel when the city became aware of the news.
During another of our outreaches, a blind, demented, and paralyzed beggar, known by almost everyone in the city, was instantly healed. The people of that area gave heed to what we preached. That beggar was proof that our teaching was biblical. His case was evidence that the gospel we proclaimed was true.
This gospel of the Kingdom was preached—and God confirmed it. He shook the world with signs and wonders.
Witnesses with evidence. The gospel with power. Spiritual awakenings and miracles. Lord, I want to be a part of Your shaking the world with signs and wonders. Give me the courage to do what you are calling me to do.
About this Plan
This devotional plan is based Dr. T. L. Osborn’s book Miracles: Proof of God’s Love. Miracles are normal for God, who created all things by His great power and outstretched arm. As you read this devotional, you, too, can experience the miracle of Christ’s presence. He is alive. He loves you. He yearns to reveal Himself to you.
