Speaking in Tongues

DAY 2 OF 3

Praying in spirit and in mind

In the Bible, you find that you can pray in the spirit and with your mind at the same time.

1 Corinthians 14:14-15

‘For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding.

I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding. ‘

Tongues are a godly language that we don’t speak with our minds but with our spirit.

This language of tongues is given to us so that we can bypass our mind, which is often full of noise, to make God great and strengthen our faith.

In that way, we build ourselves up, we turn off the noise in our mind, and we get in line with God and His Spirit.

You pray in your mother tongue with your mind. The Scripture teaches us that you don’t have to separate those two. For we are capable of praying in a tongue and praying with our spirit at exactly the same moment.

How does that work in practice?

When you come to God, you can first pray in tongues to get your mind in line with God’s truth. Then you can glorify God and build yourself up in your most holy faith with both your spirit and your mind. You keep praying in tongues but also talk to God with your thoughts.

Speak as much and as often as possible, and you will notice that your faith life will get a great boost in all aspects!
