When I Feel I Am Not Good Enough

DAY 8 OF 9

When I Feel I'm Not Good Enough

The God of Jabez

He is the God of Jabez. Jabez means "the one who causes pain". At birth, his mother cries out, "Jabez! - you cause pain". So he goes branded into life: the one that causes pain. Until Jabez calls on the God of Israel. Initially, Israel's name was Jacob. Jacob the deceiver becomes Israel, meaning the prince of God. Jacob cried out to God in Genesis 32, and God heard him, blessed him and changed his name to Israel. Like Jacob, Jabez cries out to the God of Jacob (Israel): "Now Jabez was more honourable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.” And Jabez called out to the God of Israel, “If only You would bless me and enlarge my territory! May Your hand be with me and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted the request of Jabez (1 Chronicles 4:9-10).

God can hear you. Call out to Him. He wants and can change your life. He wants and can take away your shame and reproach, your lack and sin. He wants and can deliver you from your pain. He wants and can set you free from your ability to cause pain. He is the God of gang leaders, prostitutes, pimps, drug dealers and drug addicts, witches and satanists. For such people, sinners, and people in need of a physician, He sent His Son into the world so that the blood of Christ might wash away their sins.

This is why Jesus came—so that you can be reconciled with the Father, have your sins forgiven, and become children of God the Father and friends of Jesus. Jesus makes the difference. Through him, we are hidden in God! (Colossians 3:3).
