And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

Crazy plant ladies can go through planters like fashionistas go through clothes. A new season means new styles, colors, materials, and shapes. We can’t resist an opportunity to accessorize and express our style. Some of us love bright and bold planters in all different colors. Others opt for a more natural, earth-toned look with terra cotta and stone.

It’s easy to think about planters merely as decoration and value their form over their function. But planters serve a greater purpose.

Planters hold things together.

They contain the dirt that plants grow down into, providing an anchor. They enclose the plant’s root system, directing it where to grow and how to expand. During watering, planters funnel life-giving moisture toward a plant’s roots, ensuring it receives nourishment.

In the same way that a planter contains a plant, God holds you and everything you will ever need.

When your world falls apart, He holds you together.

When you lose your footing, He is your anchor.

When you can’t carry on, He will carry you forward.

When you feel lost and astray, God encloses you.

When you fear losing control, remember that God has you contained.

When you are unsure, trust His direction.

When you feel empty, look to Him for nourishment.

Without God, you are not fully alive. With God, you are fully contained and entirely held.

Let the Lord be the vessel that surrounds you and provides for you. He will keep you. Let Him contain all that concerns you. He will provide direction. Let Him be the enclosure around you. He will provide nourishment for your soul. In Him, you have all you need to thrive and grow.

Lord, thank You for holding me together, especially when I feel like I’m falling apart. Thank You for containing all that concerns me. Remind me that I am held in Your love and care. May I look to You alone for provision and guidance.
