Praying Over Your Children and Stepchildrenಮಾದರಿ

Protection

Our children and bonus children face an enemy, the devil. Unlike a bully or mean girl, this adversary is bent on their destruction. His mission is to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10) what God loves most—people. And the devil does not play fair. He attacks our children and stepchildren from an early age and uses deceit, half-truths, temptation, and suffering to tear them down so that they enter adulthood wounded and weak. A defeated Christian is ineffective against the enemy.

Here is the good news: the enemy’s power may be great, but it is nothing compared to the All-Powerful Lord of Hosts. The crucified Jesus redeemed us from sin and the resurrected Jesus conquered death. The power that raised Him from the dead now lives in us through the Holy Spirit. We can pray for protection over our children and bonus children, and we can teach them to resist the devil so he will flee. We can teach them God’s Word so they can refute his lies with truth. We cannot win against the enemy in our strength, but we can put on the armor of God and send him packing.

Prayer

Almighty God, I pray that my children and bonus children would put on the armor You have given them. I pray the belt of truth them, that they would be able to recognize and disregard the enemy’s lies. I ask that Your righteousness would cover them and protect their hearts. Let them walk Your peace and be a peacemaker. God, I pray that my children and bonus children will walk in faith that shields them from doubt and despair and that their mind will be protected by Your salvation. Let the Word of God be living and active in them so they can defeat the enemy’s attacks. I pray for them to be safe and secure today. Amen.
