Peace Be With You!

DAY 4 OF 6

Pursue Peace

High achievers are always pursuing. In the beginning they pursue material and financial success. When they attain that sort of success and realize it can be more of a burden than a blessing—or that it doesn’t make them happy or fulfilled—they find themselves pursuing validation. They constantly try to prove or affirm that they have importance and value to others, looking outside of themselves to find approval and acceptance. The endless pursuit of something that can never really be “caught” and “held” is exhausting.

But what is really needed is a pursuit of peace. By “pursuing” peace, I don’t mean chasing it like a goal that you can reach and then forget about once you’ve checked it off your to‐do list. I mean continually bringing your mental and spiritual focus back to peace, over and over.
To pursue peace means to make it your intention every minute of every day. It means to consciously and deliberately choose peace instead of letting anxiety, stress, and urgency hijack your thinking.

These days, God is teaching me how to trust that He is working on my behalf even when it appears I am not doing anything. This requires me to believe in God’s plan for my life more than my own skills and my own busyness. This is not an easy task. But I’ve learned I needn’t be pressed with where I am when I knowwho I am.

As a business owner, I have people who work with me, and I trust them to handle the areas that they are responsible for. That’s what I am learning to do with God. I am learning to see His hand working beyond my ability and the skills that I have honed and depended on for so long. I’m learning to see that I am not capable of doing all that needs to be done to elevate my life to the levels that God has in mind for me and that I have the potential to achieve. Much work is being done on my behalf, and sometimes stillness is all that is required from me.

Everyone I know who has trusted this process has received more in every aspect of their life—financial, spiritual, social, psychological, and mental. All things are doable through the peace that empowers us. Peace gives us the clarity to see that our lives are worthy of celebration exactly as they are. Hallelujah.

How about starting your pursuit today, and gaining more clarity in your life?
