DAY 2 OF 5

Day 2 - HAVE YOUR WAY

AARON: My heart behind this song was simple: God you have complete control of my life--My thoughts, my plans, my relationships, my interactions, and my career. As I stated in the song Two Cents, this album process has been one of great tension filled with the loss of loved ones, making career decisions, and adjusting to marriage and if I’m being honest, it can be overwhelming. In these times, my natural instinct is to manage these situations myself and figure it out but after doing that time and time again, I always end up in the same place–on my knees asking God to show me the way. When I finally arrived at this place God showed me that my feeling of being overwhelmed was birthed out of my lack of dependence on Him. What He also teaches me though is that when I cast my cares on him, He is faithful to bring peace and clarity in any situation.

EJ: I’ve had the pleasure of walking with Aaron since he was 16 years old, and I have seen all the struggles he has been talking about in his songs and this devotional. One thing I can say about Aaron is that when it’s all said and done–He’s gonna trust God! It’s something that his Pops has taught him and it’s something I continue to keep at the forefront of his mind whenever he calls me for advice in these situations.

Proverbs 3:5-6 says “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take”.

I’m sure you have either heard or read this verse before but my question to you is–have you lived it? You see, it’s easy to trust God when everything is working out the way YOU want it to. But what do you do when your money is looking funny, and you feel like everything is crumbling around you? Here’s the answer TRUST GOD! To trust God means to have complete dependency and reliability on Him with all things–to put your total hope in Him, not just the things we want to trust Him with. I also want you to understand that trusting God is a command. God commands us to trust him with everything: money, relationships, career, etc.

You have that opportunity today to trust completely in God. The question is will you do it? We believe you can!

Reflection:

Listen to the song “Have Your Way” and reflect on this question:

1) Where in your life do you feel like you need to trust God more? (For example-faith, finances, family, job, mental health, etc.)
