Disappointment: When Life Gives You Lemons ಮಾದರಿ
Put on the divine authority!
"Wow, I'm so glad you experience things like this too."
Ha ha. I had to laugh when a friend accompanied me to a performance. She got a firsthand look at how many disappointments I have to deal with all on my own between the travel and the teardown.
She believed that being on tour must be all fun. But what many don't know is that I'd prefer not to go on tour at all. It's so much easier and more pleasant to sit at home and have time to read the Bible and write new texts like this one.
Because when I’m at home, by myself, no one can hurt or disappoint me. But as soon as I go out, I'm often bombarded, especially in the time before and after performances.
Bombarded with bad news. With agreements that aren't taken seriously. With equipment that fails. With books that aren't delivered on time. With a rockfall. With delays due to accidents and so on.
And that day when my friend was there, I was bombarded with such bad news just minutes before the performance that I had to decide within seconds: Do I break down and start crying now, or do I put on divine authority and let go of this disappointment?
Believe me, these are moments when I would much rather burst into tears. But I want to walk what I talk. That's why I have no other choice but to stand up in faith and move forward!
And once I’d made my decision, there it was, that divine authority through which wonderful things happen: When I sang the first note, even I was startled. Because it wasn't my voice! God had laid His hand on my vocal chords! Wow.
Put on (divine authority) and let go of your disappointment. What happens next will surely amaze you, and you will also realize in awe:
"Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You." (Jeremiah 32:17 NKJV)
You are a miracle!
