Financial Discipleship - the Bible on Our Partಮಾದರಿ
In a juxtaposition of sorts, our first act once we choose Christ is to turn around and surrender everything in our life back to Him...
This act of surrender (aka humility) helps us fully align ourselves with God’s priorities.
Our surrender leads us to a place of contentment and a desire to live a different life. A life that is transformed for Jesus, faithful and obedient to Him, with a goal of pursuing righteousness above all else.
In practice, this step requires discipline and commitment over a long period of time. In fact, many of us, including myself, will remain on this journey growing closer to the Lord until the day we meet Him.
Scripture encourages us in our walk to be more like Christ. I like Matthew 4:19, Romans 12:1-2, 1 Corinthians 4:2, Matthew 6:33 and Matthew 25:21… among others. I love how clear, direct and bold Jesus is when describing what our role is on His team.
Choosing Him with our money and possessions is no different than any other topic in the Bible Jesus cares about. To be faithful with money, we must understand what the Bible says. To be obedient with our money, we must actually do what it says.
As Christians, this is one of our toughest assignments. Simply because the ways of this world pull us in the opposite direction of God’s Word.
For example, consider [U.S.] government debt...
Great leaders, probably good intentions, but in total conflict with God’s Word. What message does this send to families, churches, communities, schools, businesses and our kids?! It’s tragic, really.
The good news is God is in control, and He has you and me.
Romans 8:28 assures us “…in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
God has chosen each of us for a specific purpose. We each have a unique opportunity to be light in darkness. We can absolutely be great stewards of God’s resources, faithful and obedient to the best of our abilities, and show our family, friends, neighbors and countries the path forward.
Sometimes our influence comes from what we say. More times than not, it will come from how we live.
I encourage you today to stay focused on handling your finances GOD’s way.
You’re on the team. You have a big role to play.
Keep charging for Christ,

About this Plan
The Bible has a lot to say about our part in handling money and possessions. Instead of doing what we will, God wants us to do His will. This 7-day plan will help readers gain a biblical understanding of being faithful with finances, how to apply it to their lives, and prepare them to share this learning with others.
