Make your home a haven
Mother Theresa said that love begins at home; what a beautiful thought. Is your home a safe, open and inviting place for your children (and their friends)?
One of the key areas I have intentionally tried to create over the years is that of a haven for my family. I wanted my home to be a refuge, a place set apart from the storms of life. Your children will face many battles as they grow. They will experience hardships and disappointments — the very highs and lows that come with life. I believe that one of the areas we are trusted with is to be diligent in safe-guarding our children and our homes.
The Lord will help us build our home but we will also give an account to Him for what we allow through the windows and doors (physically and spiritually too). Your personal haven is a place where you can kick your shoes off, let your guard down and be at rest. Through careful thought and creativity, you can create a sanctuary for your family and a hospitable home to those who come knocking.
Every family is different. I can, however, tell you of a few things that we have done over the years to build into a haven.
As a family, we have:
- Prayed over and through every room.
- We have also been watchful about what we allow into our home through media, possessions and people.
- We have had many age-appropriate and frank discussions about a wide variety of relevant topics.

About this Plan
If parenting were an extreme sport, it would be the most adventurous sport in the world. In every generation, parents really do need courage to raise children with a Biblical worldview. This plan is a resource to strengthen parents as their children grow up.
