Holy Monday

The first time that I went to a school dance it was not what I expected. I thought that everyone would be in the middle of the dance floor movin’ and groovin’. But in reality, many people choose to run around the outside of the dance floor or just sit at the tables around the floor. The place that had been meant for dancing had been changed into something much different. It was no longer used for the correct purpose.

In these verses, Jesus can seem intense, but let's not miss the message. Christ cares deeply for us and how we engage in worship. This passage shows how the Jewish people had missed the purpose of temple worship. Rather than it being a time to worship God and receive forgiveness for their sins, some people sought to make money off of worship and those that bought the animals were not giving what truly honored God. We no longer have to sacrifice animals, but God cares deeply about how we worship him. As you enter into today, think about how you are worshiping God in your time alone with Him and also in your conversations, thoughts, and actions.
