My Shield
Psalms 18: 1-3
I love you, Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I have been saved from my enemies.
How refreshing that the Lord is our strength. In a world where we can feel that everyone is out to get us, that evil is lurking around every corner, or that you cannot trust anyone—we can take hope in the fact that the Lord is our rock and our fortress. If you take on this mindset of believing that God is your shield and salvation, then you will go about your day in a very different way.
Instead of you striving to protect yourself and your family, you will realize that God has your family’s best interest at heart. God will be the one to protect, shield and deliver. That pressure will no longer be on you. If you take on this way of thinking, then you will be able put your energy towards loving others instead of defending your rights.
Think about what a difference it will make, when you realize God has it all covered. You will be free to love, show compassion, and let your guard down concerning others. When you reach out your hands, open to what God has in store, you will be ready to receive the blessings that God has for your life.
Trust in God today and thank Him that He is your shield, protector, salvation and your refuge.
Prayer
Father, thank You for always being my rock. I need You more than words can say. God, I give You this day and all that it brings. I ask that You will continually remind me of Your strength. When I want to become defensive and close myself off to others, gently remind me that I am safe with You. Thank You Lord for always being patient with me.
