Chosen - Unveiling the Woman in Christಮಾದರಿ
NOT JUST THE NORM
It seemed like it was just another day for her, same places, same to-do list.
This stranger that she had yet to meet was going to change her life forever-she just did not know it yet.
The encounter between Jesus and the Samaritan woman was so transformational that she immediately returned to her city, telling everyone about Him. That is the power of the Gospel!
The Gospel shatters barriers, removes long-standing patterns of shame and guilt, and liberates the believer to the fullness of their identity. Jesus’ time investment with this one woman rippled through the entire town, showcasing the transformative power of the Gospel.
Perhaps, she had her doubts as many of us do, but through the Revelation of Jesus, she discovered the true nature of the Father. The woman in Christ knows that God is Good, regardless of the circumstances around her. She does not frame her perception of God with her circumstances. She doesn’t conform to her feelings or religious norms, she knows the true nature of God is revealed in Christ.
Mary, the sister of Lazarus and Martha grasped this truth perfectly. The regulators of the culture and norms during those times would have been livid to see a woman seated, listening, and learning at Jesus' feet like a disciple. In fact, Martha expected more of her as a host receiving a guest to their home. But, Mary chose the one thing that we all need - Christ Himself (Luke 10:42).
We don't just need Christ to answer our prayers. We need him because who we are stems from the Revelation of who He is. We obtained our identity as Children of God by His redemptive work on the Cross.
The Jews and the Samaritans had a longstanding rift that had them go out of their way to avoid each other. Despite this, Jesus intentionally journeyed through Samaria in John 4:4. What seemed like an ordinary day turned out to be extraordinary as God was at work behind the scenes, orchestrating something beautiful. By hearing the Gospel through Jesus, the Samaritan woman was changed forever. Her true identity was unveiled as a child of God, chosen and loved as much as the Jews back in her day. With her new identity, she brought more sons and daughters to the knowledge of who they are in Christ.
