This Little Light of Mine (At Work)

DAY 1 OF 5

Don't let fear of man cause you to hide your faith at work.

It's not always easy to shine a light on the gospel message at work - especially if we work in a secular environment. We can be acutely aware of the fact that our non-Christian coworkers often don't "get" our beliefs.

In some settings, it might feel like career or social suicide to claim Christ. It's important to keep your fear of man in check. (Proverbs 29:25) And remember, those skeptical coworkers may simply have little exposure to authentic Christianity, causing them to respond how most of us might respond to the unfamiliar. Or they may have had negative experiences in the past, and they're wondering if you are any different than Christians they've been hurt by in the past. Or maybe they do think your faith is a complete joke. In any case, don't give the Enemy a foothold or allow him to squash the kingdom opportunity within the situation.

We can't forget the spiritual warfare happening around us - even at work. The Enemy can use a snide comment or an eye roll from a coworker to shut down a relationship or a conversation that could lead to something wonderful. When our fear of man causes us to retreat, we can't build relationships that represent Christ more fully and accurately within our workplaces.

Over the next few days, we'll consider a few Biblical reminders that should inform how we show up as Christians in a secular workplace.

Prayer Prompt: Father God, give me the wisdom and the strength to combat any fears that prevent me from showing up as a child of God at work. Holy Spirit, guide my steps, encourage me, and remind me of the truth of scripture when I feel fear or hesitation getting in the way of potential gospel conversations.
