The Wondrous Crossಮಾದರಿ
Yesterday we looked at what God did, today we look at why God sent His Son to die for us.
Let’s look at how slaves were treated back then. Slaves were just at the mercy of their masters. Being sold at the marketplaces from master to master. Unable to pay of their debt, they and their families were trapped under the rule of their master. Sin does the same thing to us. We become slaves to sin. We are entrapped in it’s grip. No matter how much we try, we can’t get out of it on our own. Sin made us numb to God. Just like a slave would need someone to come, buy them out and set them free, we need that to overcome the guilt and shame of sin.
There is a criteria, the person must be a blood relative, he must buy you out completely and set you free. That is what Jesus did for us. He came down to this earth, 100% divine and 100% man, so that he could be that perfect sacrifice for us, once for all. It was for freedom that Christ has set us free! Since we were unable to repay the debt, we needed someone who can pay the price, buy us out and then set us free. He was the perfect kinsman redeemer.
We don’t get to define who or what He is. Jesus is who he is and one day every knee will bow, and tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord! All we have to do is repent and believe in Him. Repent of our self-righteousness and thinking that we can do it on our own. Turn from self-worship to worship God. Accept what He has done for us and submit our lives to Him!
How valuable are you? Jesus’s blood paid the price for you. What was God willing to give up to get you back? His Son! He took all the shame and guilt on that cross so that no charge sheet is left for us. We are free and forgiven and we are granted eternal life. What we often think of the worst moment of Christ on the cross, as far as God’s concerned was his best moment. That moment it was paid in full. Freed for life.
Many of us here would have already made the decision to follow Christ. If you are new here or want to recommit yourself to Christ, repent and put your faith in Christ Jesus, Our Lord and God.
