DAY 2 OF 4

“R” is for Revelation

After giving God His due praise, the very next thing you should pray for is revelation. No, I’m not talking about that last book in the New Testament. (I recommend saving that one for way later.) I’m talking about a spiritual eye-opening the way only God can open our eyes.

You must pray for revelation – that God will open your eyes to the Truth – because it’s not automatic. If you’ve ever had an adult call you clueless or complain that “you just don’t get it,” there’s a legitimate reason. There is so much you, as a teenager, just don’t see! And it’s not your fault. Everyone who doesn’t call on the name of the Lord suffers from the same spiritual blindness – kids and adults alike.

When you pray to God for revelation, you are asking Him to reveal several things:

- The sinful, fallen nature of the world in which you live.

- The hidden motives and secret struggles of the people around you.

- The true cost of the choices you’ve made, and the price of those you’ve yet to make.

- The person you really are underneath all the masks and labels.

- And, most importantly, what God wants you to do about it.

And that’s not even a full list! I couldn’t begin to explain to you all the things you’ve missed because you haven’t asked God to show you what’s real – and what’s not. But finding out for yourself, discovering the hidden, seeing through all the hype and hysteria: it really is just one prayer away.

Your Heavenly Father is just waiting for you ask.
