DAY 4 OF 4

Humility

I love the definition of humility that says it is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less.

As we close out this study into the upside-down qualifications of leadership, we see first hand in this verse that maintaining a humble mindset is key. This is where many leaders struggle as they view this as a sign of weakness, and that is what we need to clarify.

In fact, a leader who truly understands their sole purpose is to serve others and regardless of the circumstances remains humble, that leader is in a great position to serve at an incredibly high level. Remaining humble shows up as sharing (or deflecting) accolades to others, actively listening to understand instead of trying to be heard, and being willing and open to feedback from others. These items merely touch the surface of being a humble leader and are something that must be an area of focus daily.

As we wrap up this dive into the upside-down qualification of leadership, we pray your eyes were opened to what the Holy Spirit wanted to reveal to you in your journey. Remember to maintain a focus on others; at the same time treat every opportunity and circumstance with gentleness, stay committed to team, trust, and loyalty, and at the end of the day, remain humble. By implementing these values in your walk, you are taking steps of obedience in being the leader that God intends you to be!
