A Few Words Before I Goಮಾದರಿ
Isaac passed on God’s blessing
“God Almighty bless you and make you fruitful and multiply you, that you may become a company of peoples. May He give the blessing of Abraham to you and to your offspring with you, that you may take possession of the land of your sojournings that God gave to Abraham!” (Genesis 28:3-4)
Isaac was the son of Abraham. He had received a precious inheritance from his father: the blessing of God. In Genesis 15:18 we can read how the Lord promised Abraham: “To your offspring I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates.” This promise had passed from Abraham to Isaac, who wanted to pass it on to his eldest son Esau. However, God directed it so that the youngest son, Jacob, received the firstborn blessing. Esau was outraged by this development and threatened to kill his brother. Jacob had to flee the land. Before he left, Isaac gave him another blessing as a farewell.
Isaac's words show what he considered most important for his son: the blessing of God. Only that leads to true happiness.
Some families hold valuables that they pass on from generation to generation. Isaac's family had a special blessing that was passed down. Are there also things or blessings you have received from your ancestors? What value do they hold for you? And in turn, what would you want to pass on to your children, if you have any?
About this Plan
It’s often hard to say goodbye to people. Especially if they are leaving for a long time or even dying. In such situations, we attach great importance to the last words someone tells us. In the Bible we also read several examples of people who had something important to say before they died or left. Let’s read their last words together.
