NIV Once-A-Day Bible for Womenಮಾದರಿ
Genesis 21:1–2
For Sarah and Abraham, the realization of God’s promise seemed hopeless for many years. They both believed God, but as the years passed and they remained childless, Sarah took matters into her own hands. She ran ahead of God, trying to help him out, but only ended up making a mess. Despite Sarah’s mess, 25 years after God initially promised to bless Abraham with children, his promise was fulfilled: baby Isaac was born.
Sarah wasn’t perfect. She made mistakes, yet God kept his promise. We can take comfort in the fact that God’s promises don’t depend on our being perfect either. But when we are tempted to run ahead of God, we need to remember to instead rest in him. Our good God keeps his promises.
