ADVENTure: The Loud, Noisy, Roaring, Life Changing, Not So Silent Nightಮಾದರಿ

The Adventure:

Merry Christmas Eve! We have been on this adventure together for 24 days now and I’ve loved every moment. We are now near the end of the adventure and it is so exciting. This is the part of the adventure when your parents are driving and they tell you that y’all are five minutes away. You can’t help but get excited and are ready to run out of the car to your destination. But that brings us to the question: What is our destination? Obviously the destination for this devotional has been Christmas. Every day we’ve talked about the destination but what happens after that? What happens after I celebrate Christmas, celebrate Easter, and follow Jesus all my life?

The answer is Heaven. For those of us who believe with our whole hearts that Jesus is Lord and we live out our lives like Jesus is Lord, one day we will pass away and go to Heaven. In Heaven, as we see in this verse, it is a perfect place. There Jesus will wipe away every tear from our eyes and there will be no more death and no more sadness. Doesn’t that sound like the greatest news you’ve ever heard? Every time I read this verse I can’t help but get excited and get emotional. One day there will be no more sickness that makes me feel awful or sickness that takes away family members. There will be no more war and no more death. We will be best friends with God and there will finally be peace.

Why peace sounds so good to us is because we live in a loud and crazy world. We want the peace of Heaven. The good news is the peace of Heaven is available to all of us today. Anyone who decides to follow Jesus with their whole heart will get the peace of God. It doesn’t mean everything will be easy or everything will be perfect, but we will have peace. One day we will get to Heaven and be face to face with God but today, this Christmas Eve any one of us can have peace and be best friends with God.

The Destination:

Christmas is how peace came to the world. It did not come on a peaceful night. It came on the loudest and busiest night of Mary and Joseph’s life. But it was God’s perfect timing that brought peace into the world at that time. And tomorrow we celebrate that peace.
