3 Bad Reasons to Give (And 3 Good Ones)ಮಾದರಿ
Bad Reason to Give: Out of Guilt or Obligation
Now, who enjoys getting a gift given out of guilt? You can always tell, right?
They don’t have to say it, but you can tell that they just got you the gift because there was social pressure to do so.
Don’t we think that God can tell when we give out of guilt or obligation?
Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 9 about giving cheerfully, and let's be real, there's nothing cheerful about guilted giving.
So as you give, lean into cheerful giving rather than guilt!
Good Reason to Give: Out of Grateful Hearts and Joy
When our hearts are so full of thanks that we just have to share, our giving becomes a celebration.
It's not about opening our wallets but opening our lives, letting the joy spill out like a chorus of laughter. That's what God’s inviting us to do.
A life of overflow and joy in sharing and spreading the love.
Let's pray:
Heavenly Father, help us to shed any feelings of guilt or obligation, and instead, let us give with hearts full of joy and gratitude for the many blessings You have given us. May our giving always be an act of true worship and thankfulness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
