How to Reach Your Co-Workers

DAY 1 OF 5

PRAY

Thank you for signing up for this reading plan focusing on simple ideas to help us be salt and light among our colleagues.

Creating an environment where spiritual conversations can happen naturally is vital, like Jesus with the Samaritan woman. But perhaps you're at a loss for what to do so people feel comfortable sharing their spiritual views or questions with you.

You can start by initiating dialogue and showing a genuine interest in them. Then, provide “safe” territory where they can open up to you. Try to identify common ground between the two of you. Then, continue engaging in a discussion, but before any of this, we must pray.

Prayer = Dependence On God

God encourages us: Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ . . . (Colossians 4:2-3).

Prayer is a way you can develop courage to share the gospel. God desires for you to talk to Him about your community and the lives of your colleagues and neighbors.

John 16:8-11 says, "And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer; concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged."

Pray also that you would have an open door to share the good news, be bold, and know what to say.

". . . and [pray] also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel." (Ephesians 6:19)

Finally, pray you will be filled and directed by God’s Spirit. When you depend on God through prayer, your anxiety diminishes as God's peace guides you. All you have to do is share your faith in the power of the Holy Spirit and leave the results to God.
