Focus on the Lighthouse

DAY 2 OF 4

God gave us all free will, and what we do with that free will has a ripple effect across all creation. When you feel like God is out to get you, understand that it is man working purely on their own volition; their own will, not God. When you are trying to impose your own will against God’s, you may get what you want temporarily, but every high has an equal, opposite low.

Not to mention that your will, without a doubt, will interfere with the plans God has for someone else; subsequently causing others to stumble into hardships, whether it be mentally or materially. God did not promise that your trust in Him would make your life perfect, only that He would hold your hand while you navigate the troubling waters AND the calm rivers; the valleys and the highlands; the blessings and the curses. This is why in all things, it is important to lean not on your own understanding, but God’s.

Today we’ll meditate on Proverbs 3:5-6. While this is a good general reference to what militant obedience to the Lord can do in your life, there’s a book in the Bible that gives a more in depth explanation for what it looks like, Deuteronomy 30:1-4.

About this Plan

Focus on the Lighthouse

If you have a tendency to take on the emotions of your loved ones, this one’s for you. We’ll save the book of Job for another devotional when YOU are the one going through troubled waters, not someone you care about. This is about helping yourself in order to help someone else.
