Our God Reigns - 1 + 2 Kingsಮಾದರಿ
The books of 1 and 2 Kings record Israel’s prolonged struggle between true and false worship, and were originally written as one book. From the reign of King Solomon until the exile to Babylon—a period of nearly 400 years—the prophets of God clashed with the kings of Israel and Judah regarding their idolatrous behaviour. Since God’s predictions about exile were eventually fulfilled, the prophets proved to have the last word over those kings who followed other gods. In this way the Lord showed Himself superior over all other spiritual powers, including the false gods that so many of Israel’s faithless kings followed.
These books are rich in history and doctrine, and they provide background and context for a significant portion of the Old Testament. It has been said that 1 Kings was written to record history, but more importantly, to teach the lessons of history.
Amid the chorus of idols beckoning for the attention of God’s people both in ancient times and today, only the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ reigns supreme and deserves our trust.

Over the course of this bible study, we’ll memorise several scriptures from 1 & 2 Kings.
Today we are memorising 1 Kings 2:4
“and that the Lord may keep His promise to me: ‘If your descendants watch how they live, and if they walk faithfully before Me with all their heart and soul, you will never fail to have a successor on the throne of Israel.’” (NIV)

About this Plan
After centuries of conquest and struggle, King David united the twelve tribes of Israel into a kingdom and led them into a golden era as a nation. 1 and 2 Kings recounts what happened over the next 400 years: from the prosperity of Solomon's reign, to civil war and the construction of temples, to worshipping other gods. Through it all, the books point to this resounding truth—Our God Reigns.
