Friendships—How do I have Godly friends?
“Show me your friends, I’ll show you your future” sounds like something your mom or grandmother might tell you, but it is actually true! While not all of your friends need to follow Jesus, if you’re the only one in your friend group following Jesus, who will cheer you on when you need it? We need Godly friends and relationships in our lives to help us grow and walk with Jesus daily. Godly friends will help hold you accountable and pray for you when you need it!
Jesus had many followers, but He only had 12 disciples in His inner group. So who is in your inner group? Who do you call when bad things happen or when you’re very upset? You need friends who are going to encourage you to pursue Jesus and to do life with you!
HUBs are the best way as a student to meet other people following Jesus and create friendships. HUBs are a safe space to share and ask questions, so utilize them. Your HUB leaders are there to help you connect and grow, so don’t be afraid to reach out if you need them or have questions.
TRY THIS: Today, write out the names of your closest friends, then ask yourself: “Are they following Jesus?” If they are, awesome! Take some time and pray for those friends. If they are not, start asking yourself: “How can you help lead them to Jesus,” and then pray for God to open doors for those friends to be saved. Following Jesus is nothing to be ashamed of, so be bold with your friends who aren’t saved and invite them to Ascend! You don’t need to be a “super-Christian” or over the top, just be authentic and share what Jesus has done for you.
PRAY THIS: God, give me the boldness to share my faith with my friends. Give me opportunities to invite them to church and to show your love. Help me to lead my friends closer to you and help me to not be influenced by the ones who do not know you yet. Amen.
About this Plan
We are so glad you're here! We’ve created these “Climbs” (or daily devotionals) to give new believers and youth students a place to learn the basics. These climbs were designed as a combined reading and video plan, so take the time to watch the videos and read the text for each day (we promise the videos are short).
