Faith & Love: A One Year Bible Reading Plan - Part 9ಮಾದರಿ
In this Chapter, Paul shows that he is already giving up his right as an apostle to be financially supported by those he serves. He doesn't want anything to get in the way of anyone believing the gospel.
Paul limits his freedoms further by becoming all things to all people to win some for Christ.
1 Corinthians 9:15
“For my part I have used none of these rights, nor have I written these things that they may be applied in my case. For it would be better for me to die than for anyone to deprive me of my boast!”
Paul is in it, not for the money or any rights he has. He sees its as being entrusted with an important work for Christ.
1 Corinthians 9:18
“What then is my reward? To preach the gospel and offer it free of charge and not make full use of my rights in the gospel.”
He disciplines himself like an athlete in training to get a prize and avoid disqualification.
1 Corinthians 9:25
“Now everyone who competes exercises self-control in everything. They do it to receive a perishable crown, but we an imperishable crown.”
The next passages will expand on this idea of distinguishing what is ''allowed'' from what is ''best.''
As Paul sacrificed without question to give freely and receive an everlasting reward, what is the heart behind your serving in the Kingdom, and are your goals disciplined, free of charge, or do you find yourself in the middle of asking what are my rights and what is best for me?
