The Bible in 12 Days : Discover God’s Story of Redemptionಮಾದರಿ
Part 3: A Great Nation With God as King
Scripture Covering this Period:
- Exodus
- Leviticus
- Numbers
- Deuteronomy
Dates:
- 1850 - 1406BC
Main Points:
1. God is faithful to His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob by making their family into a great nation and delivering them from slavery in Egypt.
2. In the wilderness, God establishes the Mosaic Covenant, which includes:
- Law: How God’s people reflect His holiness and character
- Blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience (Leviticus 26; Deuteronomy 28)
- Sacrificial System: God provides atonement to cover the inevitable sin of the community
3. God commands the construction of the Tabernacle as a place for Him to be enthroned over His people.
4. Israel rebels against God's rule and must wander the wilderness for 40 years.
Summary:
Part 3 begins with the 12 tribes of Israel becoming as numerous as the stars in fulfillment of God’s promise to Abraham. Yet, they are slaves in Egypt and greatly oppressed. God intervenes and uses Moses to deliver them. He leads them into the wilderness to covenant with them (the Mosaic covenant). He instructs them to have faith in Him and to live in the world as His subjects, reflecting His holiness. Unfortunately, this generation failed to do this. As a result, they could not inherit the Promised Land and left that job for their children.
About this Plan
This plan is a guide to discover God’s story as it unfolds in the Bible - from Genesis through Revelation. Over 12 days, each devotional will introduce one part of that story. Each will list the Scripture passages covering that period, and dates, highlight its main points and briefly summarize the part it plays within the context of God’s redemptive plan. The Bible reading each day should take about 30 minutes.
