4 Principles of Wisdom From King Solomonಮಾದರಿ
How did King Solomon's heart manifest itself in the first days of receiving this gift of wisdom received by God in a dream? Let's look at it together.
1. He worships God first. 2. He honors those around him. 3. He judges a situation wisely. 4. He surrounds himself with advisors.
"These were the ministers who assisted him [...] Solomon appointed twelve governors over all Israel." (1 Kings 4:2; 7 )
The fourth principle of wisdom we see in Solomon's life is, in my opinion, very important. In a dream, Solomon received divine wisdom to govern Israel, and this wisdom led him to surround himself with ministers and governors.
A wise heart is not a smug, solitary heart. Quite the contrary! A wise heart is a humble heart that recognizes the source of its inspiration (God) and acknowledges that it needs others for guidance.
"Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety." (Proverbs 11:14)
Divine wisdom led Solomon to surround himself with advisors, as we saw in the opening verses of 1 Kings 4. This chapter, which gives the names of these ministers and governors, ends with a verse that reveals this principle:
"Judah and Israel were as numerous as the sand by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking and rejoicing." (1 Kings 4:20)
Divine wisdom will always urge us to be helped, to seek advice and to see the best in others. Indeed, when Solomon built the Temple of the Lord, he turned to King Haram and declared how his people had the expertise he needed to build the Temple of the Lord:
"Now therefore, please give orders for cedars of Lebanon to be cut for me. My workers will help yours, and I will pay you the wages of those who work, according to what you fix, for you know that there is no one among us who knows how to cut trees like you Sidonians. When Hiram received Solomon's message, he rejoiced greatly and said: Blessed be the Lord this day, who has given David a son full of wisdom to govern this great people!" (1 Kings 5:20-21)
May divine wisdom flood you and lead you to live a blessed life!
"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him". (James 1:5)
