Underground Believers

DAY 2 OF 7

So many teachings of Christ have turned the world upside down. He told us to turn the other cheek, forgive “seventy times seven,” and that we needed to be “born again.” He said that the poor in spirit, the meek, and those who mourn are blessed! Considering His entrance into this broken world, we should expect no less than His complete reversal of our own understanding. The Prince of Peace entered our world an infant, a King born to poor parents, a Savior whose birth was celebrated by only a few, the Messiah a carpenter.

It should come as no surprise, then, that He continues to call us to reverse what the world would say and do. As followers of Christ, we are to consider others more important than ourselves. We are to love selflessly, give generously, and seek the approval of our Father and not of others. Jesus’ last command to us was to “make disciples of all nations.” Even the nations we consider our enemies. Farid is a brother we can look to as an example of how this is lived out in our own lives. He continued to pray for a man who called him and threatened to kill him several times a day.

This man even spray painted 30 death threats onto Farid’s home! Yet Farid boldly went to this man’s house, gave him a Bible, and forgave him. Because of Farid’s faithfulness and obedience to the call of Christ, this former enemy became a brother. We have brothers and sisters who are turning the world upside down for Christ across the world, how can we do the same where we live?

About this Plan

Underground Believers

The Bible is full of “heroes of the faith” who had to endure persecution and even death for the sake of the Gospel of Christ. In much the same way today, followers of Christ are still facing horrific persecution and even death for the sake of Christ. Find out who these underground believers are and how they are standing firm in the faith.
