BREATHING THE GOSPEL
Before digging into this week's text, start the week off with a simple reading and reflection on the text we are covering this week. As followers of Jesus, we want to develop a discipline of "Breathing the Gospel":
BREATHING THE GOSPEL: Breathing in the Word of God and breathing out your words to God
With this discipline in mind, before reading the text, take some time to focus your mind, quiet the distractions of today, and create space for the Lord to speak.
Don't rush this!
Train your heart to listen and focus on your breathing...
Breathe in... the Word of God
Once you feel ready, read through this week's text. Try not to get distracted by questions or ideas; just get a feel for the overall message of the text and think about the Gospel. As you breathe in God's Word, ask yourself:
How does this reading inform your understanding of the Gospel?
Breathe out... your words to God
Don't forget to spend some time reflecting on the text and articulating how today's reading is moving you! If you are able, take some time to journal your prayer and talk to God about how you hope to apply his Word to your life!
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. - James 1:23 (NIV)
Family Corner
Try reading these verses as a family. Take turns reading and hearing the word of God being spoken by all the members of the family.
10 “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, 11 so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it. - Isaiah 55:10-11 (ESV)

About this Plan
This plan is an invitation to the unashamed wonder and power of the gospel (Romans 1:16)! In this six-part series of plans, you will work verse by verse through the book of Romans. The Gospel tells us: "Jesus Changes Everything". The second step to experiencing the wonder of this gospel is declaring our FAITH in Jesus as our Savior and King!"
