FREEDOM From Porn For Womenಮಾದರಿ
FREEDOM from temptation
How often are you tempted to look at porn? This is a tough question to answer honestly, but here are a couple more that can be even tougher: What is your response to this temptation? Do you give in to your desires or do you fight to follow God’s will?
In the book of Genesis, a man named Joseph was tempted to go to bed with his master’s wife. She would throw herself at him and say, “Come to bed with me.” His response was, “How could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?”
The wife tried to seduce him again. She grabbed his robe and again said, “Come to bed with me.” Joseph left his robe and ran. Joseph cared so much about obeying God that he literally fled from temptation. Joseph not only refused to sleep with his master’s wife; he also refused even to spend time with her.
Before the moment of temptation, we must decide to refuse to sin. We all have temptation triggers. If it’s a person who tempts you, then don’t spend alone time with them. If it’s sexual scenes in movies or TV shows, then don’t watch them. If it’s your computer or phone, then put accountability software on them that prevents you from going there.
Be honest about the events, people, situations, and motions that cause you to turn to porn. Talk with God about removing these things in your life to avoid sin. Be aware of these things and remember you’re more likely to be tempted when you’re hungry, angry, lonely, or tired.
Sometimes we do all we can to avoid temptation, but it still is there. There’s nothing sinful with encountering temptation. What truly matters is what you do with that temptation. Follow Joseph out the door and flee from temptation.
God loves you and does not want you to be chained to sexual sins. The next time you are tempted, do all you can to run from the situation and experience the freedom that God provides.
Father God, I know the things that affect my sexual desires and need for porn. Help me be honest about what they are and remove all I can from my life. When they knock at the door to my mind and heart, I ask you to give me the strength and courage to run to you. Amen.
