Good Questions: Do We Have a Choice?

DAY 7 OF 7

The Proper Response

In conclusion to these devotionals, what should we be asking ourselves right now? Paul helps us by giving it to us straight, “What should we say then?” It’s a question that has resonated throughout history and continues to resonate today. It’s a question that demands an answer, an answer rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

And the answer is this: salvation is in Jesus. Paul clarifies that salvation comes by faith, not by works or by being born into a certain ethnicity or religion. Whether you are born Jewish, Buddhist, Christian, or anything else, salvation comes by faith in Jesus Christ as your Savior. It’s a simple message, yet it’s the most profound and life-changing message one can ever receive.

The gospel message also raises some challenging questions. Questions about the sovereignty of God and human responsibility. Questions about predestination and free will. It’s a tension that has been debated for centuries, and as Paul acknowledges in Romans 11, may never be fully resolved in this life.

Despite the complexity of these questions, we are called to respond in three ways. First, to love God with our minds by growing deeper in our understanding of who He is and what He has done. Second, to love people by sharing the good news of salvation in Jesus. And finally, to walk with God in humility and mystery, trusting Him to do His work in our lives and in the world around us.

Ultimately, what matters most is not our ability to answer every theological question or understand every mystery of the faith, but our willingness to trust Jesus as our Savior and live out His commands to love God and love others. May we all be inspired to live out these truths in our daily lives, and to share the good news of salvation with those around us.

Do you love God? Are you growing deeper in understanding who He is and what He has done for you? Are you actively seeking to know Him more through reading the Bible, prayer, and worship? And are you loving people by sharing the good news of salvation in Jesus? Are you living a life that reflects His love and grace toward others? Finally, are you walking with God in humility and mystery, trusting in Him even when you don’t fully understand His ways? These are challenging questions, but they are essential for us as followers of Christ. May we all strive to love God and others and walk humbly with Him daily. Take a moment right now to reflect on these questions. You may not have wrestled with them before, but use this time now.

About this Plan

Good Questions: Do We Have a Choice?

Do we bear responsibility for those unaware of Jesus? We should yearn for the lost to know Him. Despite Israel’s rejection of Christ as the Messiah, God’s Word remains true. He is always just and wise. Rejoice in your salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.
