Recover From Sexual Betrayal

DAY 3 OF 7

What Do I Do When I am Emotionally Lost?

Many of us have a baseline in Christianity, and we know who God says we are, but when betrayal happens to us, there is often a struggle with our emotions that leads to self-doubt and confusion. Sometimes we even blame ourselves and wonder if we are good enough, smart enough, or if we lack something that caused our loved one to look somewhere else. If we allow our emotions to rule us, our hearts will lead us astray.

Have you found that your identity was wrapped up in your relationship, marriage, or family?  If so, were you completely shaken to the core, as if everything you thought you knew about your relationship and yourself were a lie?  Here is the good news!  God says that you are beautiful! He says you are the apple of His eye and that He has a purpose and good plans for your life.  He clothes you with strength and dignity so that you can be unafraid of the future.  Let that give you exceeding HOPE for the days ahead!

Spend time in His Word.  He promises to cleanse your mind with His truth and His promises for your life.  Seek out a community in the body of Christ.  Find people who will speak truth and life into your being.  Be willing to serve others even though you feel unworthy or broken.  There are many ways to serve.  It can be helping in your church nursery or folding bulletins, making a meal for someone who is sick, or volunteering at a local animal shelter.  Getting outside of ourselves and helping others tends to build us back up and make us feel as if we are contributing to the good in the world.

Prayer:  Father, I thank you that you have chosen me and call me your own. I thank you that you delight in me and that you have good plans for my life.  Help me to get back on track believing the truth of who you say I am.  Thank you that through you, I can do all things.  In Jesus' name, Amen.
