Finding Your Fighters: How to Strategically Find Community During Porn Addictionಮಾದರಿ
Introduction
If you are currently battling a pornography addiction, the idea of telling someone might feel like the absolute last thing you want to do. You might feel so burdened by shame and fear that you cannot imagine inviting someone into this part of your life. You might believe that you are dirty and unworthy of love. Maybe you have opened up to someone about your struggle, and they didn’t respond to you in a loving way. You may have even told God that you are taking this to your grave, that not even your future spouse will know about this.
We get it. We’ve been there.
Confession can be incredibly nerve-wracking. The word itself tends to spark an immediate visceral reaction: sweating palms, racing heart, scattered thoughts. We are sure this is heartbreaking to our God who designed confession to be one of the most healing experiences we can have on this earth. God intended confession to be vulnerable in the most intimate and beautiful of ways. He designed it to be healing and rewarding.
Nevertheless, confession can feel extremely unnatural and awkward. However, we wholeheartedly believe that the best way to combat shame is through community.
Shame is like a veil over our eyes and our hearts. It convinces us that there is no possible way other girls are struggling with pornography. It makes us doubt the grace and love of our own sisters in Christ.
Through this daily devotional, we hope to encourage you, challenge you, and call you higher. We want to help you take a deep breath and redirect your eyes towards Christ. While the enemy is trying to convince you that no one will love you if you tell them about this part of your story, we are here to tell you that that is just not true.
You have fighters out there that you might not even know about. We hope to help you strategically and intentionally find community in the midst of your porn addiction.
- How do you currently feel about telling someone about your struggles with pornography? Why do you feel this way?
- Write down your honest goals for the end of this devotional.
