When Disaster Strikes at Homeಮಾದರಿ
One of the best ways for coping with disaster is to be prepared. The ability to give medical help is useful for saving life and reducing suffering. Taking a First Aid course and keeping an Emergency First Aid kit are some practical ways to prepare yourself for a disaster.
It’s important to understand that disasters can cause the breakdown of normal social life. Families experience anguish over losing their homes, belongings, and sometimes loved ones.
However, God’s love does not change, even in times of darkness and despair.
Every society has its coping mechanisms which enable people to survive in times of hardship. Any outside help must recognize and strengthen these systems, not undervalue or spoil them.
God calls us to show compassion for those who are suffering. We should be merciful towards people regardless of their ethnicity, religion, sex, age or ability, remembering that all people are equally valuable to God.
