Know for Certain: Answers for Those Who Doubt (Vol. 1)

DAY 1 OF 4

Today’s video opens with the question, “Doesn’t it feel, sometimes, as if the world is broken? As if something is not right?” How would you answer that question?

The video uses a cracked cell phone screen as an example of brokenness. Operating a broken phone can be inconvenient, frustrating and also isolating when communication abruptly ends.

We don't have to look far and wide to see that we live in a broken world. Broken cell phone screens are nothing compared to wars, famine, oppression, sickness and death. This devastation does not reflect the plan God had for us when He created the world, but because of our disobedience to Him, we became broken.

This brokenness cuts off our communication and fellowship with God. And no matter how we try to fix it on our own, isolation from God remains the never-ending result. This separation may feel like death—what the Bible says is our punishment or payment for sin.

But God made a way! Because He loves us and wants to fix our brokenness and isolation. He sent His Son, Jesus, to die in our place. Jesus paid the ultimate penalty for us by sacrificing His own life on the cross, the highest price for our eternal life with God. And because He was resurrected after three days, we know we will have eternal life and no further payment for sin is needed–ever.

This divine transaction is a gift from God. Just as we would exchange payment for a fixed or brand new cell phone, we need to accept and receive by faith Jesus’ death on the cross as payment for our broken lives; we cannot earn it. We can know for certain God will rescue us when we place our faith in Jesus. You can express your faith right now by praying:

Lord Jesus, I need You. Thank You for sacrificing Yourself to save me from the punishment for my sins. I accept Your gift and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be. Amen.
