DAY 12 OF 30

Oh, So That's What Apocalypse Means

In today's video, we have learned that "apocalyptic" really means "to reveal or uncover"—seeing the true nature of things we couldn't see before.

Here is another fascinating characteristic of our God: He is a God of revelation. Even when we cannot comprehend all that He reveals, we can delight in seeing something new about our God.

To say that our God is a God of mystery would be a great understatement. Why, how, and for what purpose the events of our lives unfold the way they do is often a mystery. Yet, we read about, experience, and repeatedly see God's Holy Spirit reveal an understanding of the events of our lives, which confirm that God is good, merciful, kind, and worthy of our loyalty and devotion.

If you are young, ask any Christian who has walked with Jesus for more than forty years what they have experienced and learned about Jesus. They often begin with, "God has been very good to me." They may follow up with testimonies of challenging seasons or life experiences, but they will often end right back to the statement, "God has been very good to me."

Question: How do the scriptures you are currently reading reveal God's kindness, love, and mercy? How has God invited you into a daily relationship with Him? Keep these fundamental characteristics of God's nature in mind as you read the apocalyptic portions of scripture.

Prayer: Father, I don't understand much of what I read in Your word, especially when it is apocalyptic. However, I choose to believe that You are good, and You reward those who diligently seek You. I know You will continue to reveal things to me so that my witness of Your goodness will increase and effectively advance Your kingdom here on earth. Amen.
