40 Days of Prayer & Fastingಮಾದರಿ
What Happens When We Fast?
Fasting unlocks supernatural activity and spiritual sensitivity. The Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness after fasting to do what Adam could not do--resist temptation and overcome flesh. The scriptures say that Jesus was in the wilderness with Satan, beasts and with angels. We read that the angels were there ministering to Jesus but the beasts were there to feed on Him. Beasts or predators are drawn to dying flesh. What the beasts didn’t know, was there was no flesh on Jesus to die. He had been fasting and His flesh was already dead. A “beast” was considered a non-sacrificial animal. Jesus was the sacrifice in this situation. He wasn’t coming as flesh, but He brought His flesh as a sacrifice. There are two options for your flesh: You can let the beasts devour you or you can give your flesh to God as a sacrifice. This is what happens when we are fasting. We may be tempted but the Lord is ministering to us and the beasts just get close enough to get under our feet.
Prayer: Lord, I offer my flesh to You as a sacrifice. Thank You for the authority to put my enemies under my feet. I separate myself from all acts of the flesh. I crucify my flesh with all its passions and desires and ask You to fill me with the fruit of the Spirit. Teach me how to fast like You did. Thank You for modeling a life of fasting, denying Your flesh, and growing in intimacy and power with God. Thank You that I have the victory because of what You did for me. Amen.
About this Plan
Fasting is a spiritual discipline that calls us to deny the desires of our flesh and fill ourselves up with God, His Word, and His presence. Over the next 40 days, we will grow in intimacy with God, position ourselves to be in His perfect will, and learn about His dunamis power in our daily personal encounters.
