Don't Settle for a Copyಮಾದರಿ
Organize your Priorities
In the beginning, the Creator of heaven and earth, masterfully formed Adam, the first man, in His image and likeness with His own hands and breathed the breath of life into his lungs. God placed Adam in a utopic garden in the land of Eden and it was his to call home. But it didn’t take long for God to notice the man’s loneliness and desperate need for a partner when he pronounced: “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him." What is overlooked in this account of origins is that Adam was designated several tasks to fulfill beforehand. He was placed in this paradise to cultivate it, care for it and even assign names to the beasts of the field and the birds of the sky. It was during this obedient fulfillment of responsibilities that God considered the need to create a suitable companion to help him.
Perhaps a reorganization of your priorities is needed to receive the right person destined for you. Start with fulfilling the tasks that God has called you to attend to. Cultivate your gifts and talents, take care of your responsibilities, look after God’s assignment for your life. The Word says: "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." There are specific instructions in the bible regarding this “Kingdom-minded” approach. While you await to receive your helpmate, heed Paul’s advice to Timothy: "give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Do not neglect the gift that is in you." Get involved in your church and community, reflecting God’s love for others. Be an example to all believers with graceful speech and holy conduct: that’s living in the Spirit.
The Bible says: “Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you." Avoiding romantic relationships with copies, that damage your heart and wreck your emotions, is a way of taking care of yourself. Stay persistent in prayer while you wait to receive your helpmate, your one and only, God’s “original” for you. You’ll save yourself frustrations and by your example you just might save others.
Paul warned: “bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.” With this expression he is not saying that it is wrong or sinful to exercise. He is exhorting us to reorganize our priorities by putting God and His spiritual matters first. God knows all of your needs. If you stay focused on the tasks assigned to you, all your other needs will be provided by Him in accordance with your faithfulness.
About this Plan
The main concept of this 5-day devotional deals with practical guidance in identifying one’s ideal spouse with the help of God. The title "original" is used here to represent the best possible option as a lifelong companion, and the terms “copy” or “copies” describe all other possible partner options. The authors' objective is aimed at single, divorced or widowed people who intend to marry or remarry and fulfill the grand purpose that God has for their life.
