Year of the Bible: Part Ten of Twelve

DAY 20 OF 30

Reveal the Mystery

When Paul wrote this New Testament letter, the Gospel of Jesus Christ had been a mystery for far too long. God had promised the Jews a Messiah who would redeem His people. God's people understood the mystery of the Messiah and were set apart to showcase the glory of God to the surrounding gentile nations. Then Jesus, the promised Messiah, completed the work of salvation on the cross; sin was dealt with once and for all. Now anyone, not just the Jews, who believes in the Gospel of Jesus Christ is part of the Christian church. In this passage, Paul pointed out the church's responsibility to reveal the mystery of Jesus Christ, the Messiah.

The same expectations stand for us today. Christians should participate in a local church for their spiritual health, as well as to contribute to the ministry. The primary requisite for a church is sound and accurate Bible teaching. It is also critical that the congregation engage with one another to support their spiritual edification. A thriving congregation founded on Biblical truth should stand firm in every circumstance, no matter how simple or difficult. When this stability occurs, the church is commissioned to expand the Lord's kingdom by revealing the mystery of the Gospel to those unaware.

Question: When and where can you reveal your mystery of Jesus to those who are unaware?

Prayer: Ask God to equip you with all you need to defend His Gospel and influence others to believe in it. Pray that He grants you opportunities to expand His kingdom and thank Him for the great privilege of being a part of it all.
