7 Foundational Truths to Live Byಮಾದರಿ
What is truly important?
I recently attended my uncle's funeral. It was hard, very hard. So many thoughts were racing through my head during the service: "Do I care enough about the people close to me? Do they know I love them? Couldn't I show them that more often instead of tending to always address the negative first?"
Funerals are one of those moments in life that forces us to stop. We take time out of our daily lives to say goodbye. When grief hits, we often can't help but set aside everything that seemed so important just minutes before. It seems that the moments when people leave us are the moments when we can see life most clearly.
Even though it hurts, think back to the last funeral you attended. What thoughts flashed through your mind during that time? What did you want to do differently as a result? Unfortunately, we often forget these valuable resolutions very quickly, but there's nothing quite like death to teach us to live. Despite many tears, we often see with greater clarity what's really important: the people around us. Our circle of loved ones, friends, family, and neighbors that God has given each one of us. The areas that we can influence and change with and through His love.
Let's not allow the busyness of life to cause us to forget what is really important!
Today is the day when you can choose to take care of what is truly important and reprioritize everything else that only "seems" so important. You and the people around you are alive right now. Today, you have a lot that you can give those people: your love! God's love through you!
His Word tells us, "And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity." (Colossians 3:14, NIV)
I encourage you today…ask the Lord to help you see and value what is most important!
You are a miracle!
